A sector inquiry was initiated to determine the competition problems that may arise in the markets in terms of eleven provinces affected by the earthquakes that took place on February 6, 2023. (17.3.2023) (29.3.2023)

The Competition Board initiated a sector inquiry to determine the competition problems that may arise in the markets in terms of eleven provinces affected by the earthquakes that took place on February 6, 2023.

Establishing a permanent and rapid communication channel with the shareholders in the disaster area, primarily public institutions like chambers and commodity exchanges is envisaged within the scope of the sector inquiry initiated. In this way, it is aimed to ensure that proactive steps are taken by quickly identifying possible competitive problems that may delay both the social and economic recovery process in the earthquake area and by coordinating with other relevant public institutions and organizations when necessary.

Thus, the objective is both to prevent undertakings from engaging in activities that might restrict/distort competition in the face of sudden and high demand to certain sectors and to provide the necessary guidance for the competitive design of the cooperations that can be made between the undertakings during the redevelopment and construction of the region.

On this occasion, we once again extend our wishes for recovery for our citizens living in eleven provinces directly affected by the earthquake and for our country.

Respectfully submitted for the information of the public.
