PANELS ON DIGITALIZATION, EFFECTIVE ENFORCEMENT AGAINST CARTELS AND DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION (26.11.2019)

There were three panels within the scope of Istanbul Competition Forum.  On the first day of the Forum, Hasan Hüseyin Ünlü, Competition Board Member, Pınar Akman Professor of Law, Leeds Unniversity, Ioannis Lianos, the President of Hellenic Competition Authority and Yuriy Terentyev, the Head of Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine participated as speakers to the panel on “Digitalization and Competition Law and Policy” moderated by Ebru Gökçe Dessemond, Legal Officer, Competition and Consumer Policies Branch, UNCTAD.

In the afternoon, the panel moderated by the Vice President of the Competition Authority Kürşat Ünüsoy on “International Cooperation in Competition Law Enforcement” was held. The panelists were Antonio CAPOBIANCO, Acting Head, Competition Division, OECD, Elizabeth GACHUIRI, Economic Affairs Officer, UNCTAD, Prof. Juliana LATIFI, Chairwoman, Albanian  Competition Authority, Elena KLEININGER, Vice President, Romanian Competition Council and Ljiljana PAVLIC, Board Member, Croatian Competition Agency.

On the last day of the Forum, the session on “Effective Enforcement Against Cartels” was moderated by Competition Board Member Ahmet ALGAN.
Antonio GOMES, Acting Deputy Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs, OECD, Francis W. KARIUKI, Director General, Competition Authority of Kenya, Liudmila BORISOVA, Head of Saratov Regional Office, FAS Russia and Arsen ISKAKOV, Deputy Chairman, Competition Authority of Kazakhstan made evaluations.

In addition, Recep Gündüz, Head of External Relations, Training and Competition Advocacy Department of Turkish Competition Authority made a presentation on  “International Cooperation and the Role of ICF from the Perspective of Turkish Competition Authority”

Following Recep Gündüz’s speech, OECD Head of Competition Committee, Prof. Frederic Jenny delivered a speech on “Digitalization and International Cooperation.”
