The Balkan Initiative Platform, which reflects the common will of nine Balkan countries for cooperation, is formed with the initiative of the Turkish Competition Authority. The first workshop of the platform on “Recent Trends in Competition Law Enforcement in the Balkans” was held on November 9, 2021 with high level participation from Greece, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Republic of North Macedonia and Montenegro. The workshop started with the opening speech of the President of Turkish Competition Authority, Mr. Birol Küle. The participants made presentations concerning mainly the challenges in competition law enforcement during Covid-19 outbreak and abuse of dominant position cases in digital markets. It was emphasized that the aim of the workshop was to create a platform for institutionalizing close cooperation and exchange of ideas and experiences between the competition agencies of the countries in the region. The participating countries expressed their determination to support the workshop. The goal is to organize the workshop by a different Balkan country every year on different topics.
