The main duties of the Economic Analysis and Research Department are as follows:

• To conduct examinations and analyses in the sectors/markets specified in Board decisions or otherwise identified, with outside expert support when necessary
• To establish the general framework for conducting sector/market inquiries after taking the opinions of other departments, to provide the required coordination for conducting the sector/market inquiries in accordance with the aforementioned framework
• To carry out research and analysis requests of other departments approved by the Office of the President, with outside expert support when necessary
• To conduct researches and analyses on subjects approved by the Office of the President on its own initiative or in accordance with the plan of action
• To render opinions and provide assistance if necessary to other departments concerning their information requests about the form, content, method and presentation of researches and analyses
• To take the inventory of and classify analyses conducted within the Authority, in cooperation with the relevant departments
• To conduct studies concerning the regulations to be prepared for the analyses and researches of the Authority, to submit regulation proposals and drafts to the relevant department
• To conduct researches and analyses and develop proposals in order to identify competition failures in the prioritized markets and industries of the Turkish economy
• To ensure the creation of a research environment within the Authority required for studies in industrial economics, to cooperate with academic and research institutions
• To monitor and report the developments in the area of competition economics in the literature as well as in practice, and enter these into the Authority database in coordination with the relevant department
