Ahmet ALGAN

Deputy Chairman of the Competition Board

Ahmet Algan was born in Osmaniye. After graduating from Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School, he graduated from Business Administration Department of Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences in 1995. He received his MBA degree in 2006 from the same university. 

He started his professional life as an assistant auditor in a private bank. Beside his managerial duties at different levels, he worked in American Express Bank in New York, USA and conducted academic studies on economy and finance in New York University. He had different duties in the Prime Ministry of the Republic of Türkiye in 2003 and afterwards in the Committee on European Union Harmonization at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. In 2007, he was assigned as the Head of Capital Markets Department in the Privatization Administration of the Prime Ministry of the Republic of Türkiye. During that period, he participated in public offering processes of enterprises under privatization such as Halkbank A.Ş. as well as Appraisal Commissions for several companies and served as the member of the Board of Directors of Trakya Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. Between 2010 and 2018, he served as the Vice President of the Presidency of Turks Abroad and Related Communities.

Having served as a Board Member between July 2018 and February 2022, ALGAN was appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Competition Board with the Presidential Decision dated February 2022 and served as the Deputy Chairman of the Competition Board between 2022 and 2026. ALGAN was reappointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Competition Board with the Presidential Decision numbered 2026/296, published in the Official Gazette dated 5 September 2026 and numbered 33361.

 He holds the titles of Certified Public Accountant and Independent Auditor. He is married and has one child.
