Rıdvan DURAN

Born in Geyve, Sakarya in 1972, Rıdvan DURAN graduated from the Economics Department of Istanbul University Faculty of Economics, and completed his post-graduate studies at the Sakarya University, Labor Economics and Industrial Relations Department.

DURAN started his career as the Editor-In-Chief of the radio station he founded in Sakarya, and he served in various high-level positions in the Adapazarı Municipality and Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality and held the office of the Deputy Secretary-General of the Sakarya University. DURAN served as the Director of Human Resources and Administrative Affairs at Anadolu Agency, as a member of the Advertising Board of the Ministry of Trade, and as Head of the Department of Culture at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. He also worked as Director General of the Press Advertising Agency and as Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Family and Social Services. On 01.12.2023, Rıdvan DURAN started to serve as Advisor to the Minister of Family and Social Services, and was appointed as a Member of the Competition Board by Presidential Decision No. 2024/318, published in the Official Gazette No. 32662 dated 13 September 2024.

He has served as Chairman of the Board of the Association of Economists of Istanbul, Chairman of Sakarya Büyükşehir Belediyespor Sports Club, Vice Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Sakaryaspor Football Club as well as Vice Chairman of the Turkish Wushu-Kung Fu Federation. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees as well as the Board of Directors of the Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Research Foundation for the History of Islamic Science.

DURAN is married and has four children. He has a good command of English
